Last year I saw a movie called the Bucket List, if you haven't seem it or even hear of it, which is about two men who find out they don't have much to live and decide to do things they've always wish to do. Well to be honest it got me thinking, why wait till its to late. Within the last 3 weeks I have done two things that I have always wanted to do.
1> I was about three weeks ago on a cloudy day. The good Lord was kind enough to keep the rain from falling. So we headed out to catch us a shark and a shark we found. We were on our way back to the harbor because we didn't have any luck thus, then all of a sudden it hit. It hit as hard and as fast as a runaway train. After 2 hours of fighting this beast it finally arose from the deeps. My heart pounding out of my chest, sounds of both cheers and terror as we pulled it onto the boat. All and all it was 207 pounds of pure killing machine that I fought.( and both "Whats His Name", and "You Know Who" were both there.)
2> Just happened today. So we went out again to try to get a shark, which was unsuccessful. First we couldn't find any bait to catch, bait are smaller fish which you use to catch bigger fish, (cough Floor moms that was for you to understand cough...) So we thought we could dive down and spear the fish with a spear gun. No one wanted to do it so I said I would. Little did I know that usually people wear a wet suite because the water is just to FREAKIN cold. I almost didn't do it out of both the how cold the water was, and the fear of what might be lerking under the blue, mejestic ocean. But I know that if I didn't do it I would regret it. So i Blunged into the deep aybss not knowing what i might come face to face with. The only thing i could hear was the sound of the air racing in and out of my snorkal. It was as if I was hyperventalating.
As i swam closer to the drifting kelp line there i could school of fish feed apond it. Luckly for me, I didn't have to wait long before i saw my target. I took aim with my spear gun... and with a pull of the trigger the spear had gone from me to the fish in a blink of eye. First i thought I missed it, then a tung... and another tung. Quickly i pulled the line in that looked as if it went stright to the bottome of the ocean for two reasons: 1)because I was so jacked out of my mind because on my first attepmt I had speared a fish; 2) because now there was blood in the water and my fear of coming face to face with Jaws himslef one increased. As fast as I could I swam back to the boat. So fast that I even swam out of one of the fins I was using. So I thought of going back to get, as soon as i put my head above the water everyone was yelling so my first thought was.... SHARK!!! so I swam so back to the boat as fast as I could only to have everyone looking at me as like, 'What the hell, why did you just leave the fin the water."
Never in my mind did I ever think I would ever go spear fishing, evevn though i dream of doing it one day. Two down and not many, but a whole lifetime full to go.
Does anyone read this?
